Tricks of the trade

Hey everybody! I wanted to show you, my friends, some before and after frames that I pulled from the Cinematic Short I did for Cynthia and Ricky. It will give you a small taste of some of the editing techniques involved in cleaning up footage before I add it to the final film. For those who are interested, I am a PC user and I do my editing in Adobe’s Premiere Pro and After Effects. The images above are some of the scenes I worked on in After Effects to remove certain things, people mostly, from shots that I really wanted in the video. It’s basically like Photoshopping but Photoshop works on one photo at a time where as in After Effects you are working on 24 frames (or photos) in each second of footage. Needless to say it does take some time to do these edits but After Effects does help move things along nicely. Check out my previous post to see these shots in Cynthia and Ricky’s Cinematic Short.

Cynthia + Ricky Cinematic Short

I was super excited when I was asked to film Cynthia and Ricky’s wedding in November at the Phoenix Art Museum. The only regret I have was not getting to know this amazing couple before their special day but that didn’t stop them from making feel right at home as soon as I arrived. Not only were they fun to be around, they picked one of the coolest venues for their wedding that I have ever worked at. I was like a kid in a candy shop when I got to film them around the art installations inside the museum.
Thank you Cynthia and Ricky for letting me be a part of that awesome day! Happy New Year!

How to Pour the Pefect Nitro Pint – Left Hand Brewery

The wonderful people over at Left Hand Brewery asked me to create a web video for their new Milk Stout Nitro in a bottle. With the help of the left hander, Aly Dratch, this is what we came up with.

Jessy + James – Cinematic Short

Though they were the first couple to officially hire me, Jessy and James’ wedding ended up being the fourth wedding I filmed. I am truly grateful to them for helping me get into the business; for this reason (among many others) their wedding was very special to me.
Married at the Tapestry House, outside of Fort Collins, CO; cheers, to a lifetime of happiness together.

Stacy + Lou – Cinematic Short

Stacy and Lou’s wedding was incredible and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to capture the day for them. The ceremony and reception were held at Cielo, in Castle Pines, an incredibly beautiful location. It’s evident that these two were made for each other. The love and happiness expressed throughout the day was sincere and heartfelt. Congratulations Stacy and Lou!

Ann + Wes – Cinematic Short

Here it is, my first wedding gig! I couldn’t have asked for a better couple to film during their very special day. Everything went so well for us and having such a relaxed and easy going couple to work with made things that much better. They had a beautiful setting at the Villa Parker where the ceremony and reception were held. Everything was perfect and I’m so happy for the new couple and their wonderful family. Congratulations Ann Marie and Wes Studer!

Vimeo!

Here is a direct link to my Vimeo page where I load all of my videos. If you are unfamiliar with Vimeo, take a look around their site, but only after you’ve checked out my videos! I absolutely love their site and consider it the best place to see more creative work than some of the other video sharing sites.

Hope you enjoy!

AFLV El Salvador Immersion Trip

AFLV took some members on a immersion trip to Central America to do some volunteer work and they came back with some great photos. They asked if I could put together a montage that wasn’t a typical iPhoto creation. This is what I came up with.

AFLV “Society”

This “spot” was also created for AFLV as kind of a marketing video to recruit members into their newly formed Society. It’s really not as Skull and Bones as it sounds.

AFLV

I was hired to do some videos for the Association for Fraternal Leadership and Values over the last couple of months and I thought I would go ahead and post them on my site. They were great to work with and I got the privilege of having my videos shown to a crowd of more than 2000 people during their last conference in St. Louis.
